Traumatic brain and acquired brain injuries may result in any number of visual, motor, sensory, cognition and mental health symptoms. You should not drive until cleared by a physician.
Warning signs that your brain injury may be affecting your driving include:
- Driving too fast or too slow
- Ignoring traffic regulation signs (i.e. speed limits)
- Easily frustrated / confused
- Getting lost in familiar areas
- Driving errors are always “someone else’s fault”
- Delayed responses to hazards or changes in road ways
If you are experiencing residual deficits from your brain injury you should discuss them with your physician and consider a comprehensive driving evaluation.
