Traumatic Brain Injury

Traumatic brain and acquired brain injuries may result in any number of visual, motor, sensory, cognition and mental health symptoms. You should not drive until cleared by a physician.

Warning signs that your brain injury may be affecting your driving include:

• Driving too fast or too slow
• Ignoring traffic regulation signs (i.e. speed limits)
• Easily frustrated / confused
• Getting lost in familiar areas
• Driving errors are always “someone else’s fault”
• Delayed responses to hazards or changes in road ways

If you are experiencing residual deficits from your brain injury you should discuss them with your physician and  consider a comprehensive driving evaluation.
